Sample projects

Global designer and manufacturer of subsea power cables and umbilicals - growth strategy development and implementation

We developed a 10 year growth strategy for a global (UK-based) designer and manufacturer of subsea power cables and production umbilicals for the offshore Oil & Gas and Wind sectors. This was carried out as part of a value-creation programme in support of PE owners’ preparations for an exit. Our work included a comprehensive market scan and detailed forecast of the Total Available Market and the client's Served Addressable Market, followed by a selection and detailed definition of a suite of additional growth opportunities. For each one, we created detailed business cases / cashflow forecasts and designed an implementation model and roadmap. The work became the foundation for the Investor Prospectus and Information Memorandum, and for the company's investment strategy both pre- and post-acquisition by a trade buyer.

Major distributor of heavy Construction and Mining machinery - Business unit growth strategy (UK and Western Canada)

For the client who is the UK's exclusive distributor of a major industrial brand (Construction, Mining, Power Generation etc), we developed accelerated growth strategies for several of the business units. Aiming for the doubling of BU revenues within 5 years, we defined, segmented and sizied / forecast the total addressable market, defined the key target customer profiles and developed segment-specific value propositions and channel strategies. We then created a short-list of growth opportunities, developing detailed business cases,  designing implementation models including co-dependencies with other parts of the organisation. At client’s request, the approach developed in the project was then replicated with the client’s sister organization in Western Canada.

US Subprime Lender – Launch of online-only banking offering

We carried out a Feasibility assessment and created an outline market entry strategy for a leading US provider of consumer credit for sub-prime customers into online-only banking. This entailed a thorough assessment of the market dynamics within the US banking industry and specifically within the NeoBank / Challenger Bank segment and evelopment of detailed market growth forecasts / scenarios for the next 10 years, based on the available revenue streams and taking into account different addressable customer segments and their use cases. Based on that, we created an outline entry strategy for the client leveraging off their existing Consumer Finance business. The banking offering has since then been successfully launched.
